Fiorentina manager Raffaele Palladino faces a selection headache ahead of the upcoming match against Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. The Viola’s attacking options have been significantly reduced due to injuries to key players Albert Gudmundsson and Moise Kean.
TMW report how Gudmundsson, who arrived from Genoa in the summer for a reported fee of around 30 million euros including loan, purchase, and bonuses, is already sidelined. Now, Kean has been ruled out of the trip to Genoa due to an ankle problem sustained during the recent match against Roma.
Kean’s absence is particularly notable as he has been a consistent presence for Fiorentina this season, appearing in all nine league matches and contributing four goals. The striker only missed one European fixture against St. Gallen, a match that Fiorentina won 4-2 thanks to goals from Martinez Quarta, Ikoné (who scored twice), and Gosens.
With these key attackers unavailable, Palladino is likely to turn to Christian Kouamé to lead the line. The Ivorian forward, also a former Genoa player, is expected to play as a false nine, tasked with finding spaces to exploit in the opposition defense. Kouamé has made 12 appearances this season across all competitions, and while he hasn’t scored, he has provided four assists in Serie A and the Conference League combined.
