Fiorentina’s €12m Midfield Bet: Marco Brescianini Arrives From Atalanta
His arrival is a big boost for Paolo Vanoli's squad.

Fiorentina have confirmed the signing of midfielder Marco Brescianini from Atalanta, as Paolo Vanoli continues to reshape his squad in January.
Speculation linking Fiorentina and Brescianini has been doing the rounds for some weeks, with the player also linked to Lazio and Bournemouth.
However, Fiorentina have won the race, and 25-year-old arrives on loan, with a €12m option that can become an obligation to buy if they stay in Serie A.
Brescianini is expected to be available straight away and could be included in the squad for Sunday afternoon’s game against AC Milan.
What Marco Brescianini could bring to Fiorentina
Brescianini’s arrival gives Vanoli another useful option in midfield and adds depth for the second half of the season.
The AC Milan academy graduate is a versatile player, but his best role is as a central midfielder.
Brescianini offers energy, a strong physical profile, and the ability to run forward without the ball.
Competition in Fiorentina’s midfield is already intense. Nicolo Fagioli and Rolando Mandragora are key players, and Cher Ndour a leading alternative.
However, Brescianini certainly has the tools to quickly make a name for himself and stake a claim for regular game time.

He can also play slightly higher up the pitch as an attacking midfielder behind the forwards, a role he has filled before.
Former coach Davide Dionigi, who worked with Brescianini at Cosenza, has previously spoken about his all-round skill set.
“Brescianini is a player I really wanted when I was on the Cosenza bench,” he said, as per Tuttomercatoweb.
“He’s coming off a few difficult seasons where he seemed to have fallen off the radar.
“He’s a player with pace, physicality, and a great foot. He needs to improve his heading a bit, despite his physical build.
“He’s a classic midfielder with quality runs. He’s also played behind the striker at times, but his role is that of a midfielder with runs.”

Brescianini joins Manor Solomon at Fiorentina, but their transfer activity is far from over, with reports claiming they are planning further reinforcements.
Italian reports say Fiorentina want another midfielder, but this time with a more attacking profile and stronger dribbling skills.
Tommaso Baldanzi’s name is doing the rounds, with Corriere dello Sport reporting Fiorentina have the player’s initial “yes” to talks.
The same report says Fiorentina plan another meeting with Roma to understand the conditions of a deal.
Vanoli is apparently thinking about a longer-term switch towards a 4-2-3-1. This would increase the need for an attacking midfielder.
Fiorentina are also looking at wide attackers, in order to give Vanoli more natural options on the flanks.
Benjamin Dominguez is a potential option, but reports say Bologna would only consider a sale for a significant fee.
Other names mentioned in Italian reporting include Nice’s Jeremie Boga and Torino’s on-loan attacker Cyril Ngonge.
At the back, Fiorentina have been linked with several defenders, including Tottenham’s Radu Dragusin.
