Galatasaray have turned their attention to Festy Ebosele, a right-back owned by Udinese and currently on loan at Watford, as they search for reinforcements in the January transfer window. The Turkish club is in need of a new right-back after their initial target, Emerson Royal of AC Milan, suffered a serious injury during a Champions League match, derailing ongoing negotiations.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports how, Initially, Galatasaray had focused on signing Emerson Royal, but the Brazilian’s calf injury, which is expected to sideline him for two to three months, forced the club to explore alternative options. With Emerson out of contention, the Turkish giants have shifted their sights to Italy and identified Ebosele as a potential candidate.

Festy Ebosele, a 22-year-old Irish international of Nigerian descent, joined Udinese in 2022 after leaving Derby County. Known for his speed and versatility, Ebosele can play as a right-back or right wing-back. Currently on loan at Watford in the English Championship, he has been gaining valuable experience under the Pozzo family’s ownership structure, which links both clubs.

Despite his promising profile, Ebosele is currently sidelined with an injury. The primary concern for Galatasaray revolves around his fitness. If medical evaluations indicate that he can recover within a few weeks, the Turkish club may push forward with a move to secure his services.

For Galatasaray, Ebosele could provide much-needed depth and dynamism on the right flank. His ability to contribute both defensively and offensively makes him an attractive option for a team looking to strengthen its push in domestic and European competitions.

Meanwhile, for Udinese, selling or loaning out Ebosele could provide financial flexibility or free up space for other players in their squad. Watford’s role in this potential transfer remains unclear, but any deal would likely require coordination between all three parties.
