Former teammates Andrea Pirlo and Gennaro Gattuso could go head-to-head for the coaching role at Greek side Olympiacos. The duo famously played alongside at Milan as well as for the Italian national side where they helped win the 2006 World Cup.
Calciomercato.it report that the duo are being assessed by Olympiacos owner Vangekis Marinakisas as potential options to replace Jose Anigo, who took on the interim coaching role earlier this season. The tycoon reportedly wants a ‘big’ name for the Greek club, and talks are reportedly at an advanced stage with Gattuso, although Ringhio is reportedly waiting to see how Olympiacos’ season will end before giving a definitive answer.
Alongside, Marinakisas is also considering the option of making an offer to Pirlo who currently manages Turkish side side Fatih Karagümrük, currently in 8th place in the Superlig.
Calciomercato also suggest that Marinakis is fascinated by Italian football in general, and plans to purchase a Serie A side, with rumours circulating that he would like to make an offer for Roma.
