Betting Odds Suggest Manchester United Flop Is Set For Serie A Return

Start

The latest Rasmus Hojlund transfer news suggests he is on his way back to Italy this summer, with the latest betting odds pointing firmly toward a return to Serie A.

Despite signing for Manchester United just two years ago in a deal worth £72 million, the Danish forward is now considered surplus to requirements under Ruben Amorim — and a transfer seems increasingly likely.

According to the best offshore sportsbooks, all six of the most likely destinations for Hojlund are Serie A clubs:

How Much Does Manchester United Want for Rasmus Hojlund?

After just 14 Premier League goals across two seasons, United appear ready to cut their losses. According to Calciomercato, the club has softened its stance on an exit and is now open to loaning Hojlund — but only if an obligation to buy clause is included, with a minimum fee of €45 million.

The change in stance comes following the arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, which have improved the goalscoring power in United’s front line.

With Amorim reportedly pushing for another out-and-out No.9, Hojlund may find first-team opportunities increasingly limited.

United’s ideal solution is a club willing to commit to a permanent deal if they qualify for the Champions League — a setup that Italian clubs like Roma, Milan, and Inter are all actively exploring.

Hojlund Transfer News: Serie A Giants Circle

Inter were first to express interest but cooled their pursuit due to United’s high valuation.

Juventus, despite already adding Jonathan David, are considering Hojlund as another striker option to replace the exit-bound Dusan Vlahovic.

Milan remains in the background, reportedly waiting for Vlahovic’s future to be resolved before launching their own move.

Roma have emerged as slight favorites after Tammy Abraham departed, while Atalanta and Napoli remain outsiders, with financial constraints making a straight cash deal unlikely.

While most clubs are proposing loans with options to buy, United are holding firm on an obligation clause, which complicates things but keeps the door open for a summer exit.

Does Hojlund Want To Stay at United?

Despite mounting speculation, Fabrizio Romano recently reported that Hojlund himself isn’t pushing to leave: “Hojlund would love to stay at Manchester United. The only possibility for him to go is if the club decide to let him.”

His agent, however, sees a return to Serie A as the right career move and is already speaking with several Italian clubs.

Former United midfielder Gordon Strachan echoed this view, telling Caught Offside that a permanent move away might be best for Hojlund’s confidence and career: “I really do feel sorry for Hojlund… It seems like Manchester United is too much for him right now.”

Possible Hojlund Replacements

Should Hojlund leave, United are ready to act. Ollie Watkins is reportedly Amorim’s preferred option, while Benjamin Sesko, Viktor Gyokeres, and Nicolas Jackson remain on the club’s shortlist — albeit with price tags that could prove prohibitive.

Watkins, who scored 18 Premier League goals last season for Aston Villa, is seen as a more established option who can immediately impact United’s attack.

Should they miss out on their preferred targets, United will turn to Dusan Vlahovic as a ‘last resort’ option.

For Hojlund, a return to Serie A, where he previously impressed with Atalanta, could reinvigorate his career. For United, it’s an opportunity to recoup some of their investment while clearing space for a new lead striker.

With Roma leading the betting odds and United reportedly willing to accept a structured exit, all signs point toward a reunion with Italian football.
