Igor Tudor Admits Juventus Showed ‘Great Heart’ In Stunning Dortmund Comeback

Igor Tudor has admitted that Juventus showed ‘great heart‘ in their Champions League classic against Dortmund on Tuesday. 

The Bianconeri scored twice in second-half injury to salvage a point in a thrilling 4-4 draw against the Bundelsiga side at the Allianz Stadium.

Niko Kovac’s side led three times in Turin. Karim Adeyemi scored the opener before Juve star Kenan Yildiz leveled the match with a stunning 30-yard curler.

Felix Nmecha then put BVB 2-1 ahead before Dusan Vlahovic equalized just two minutes later. Goals from Yan Couto and Ramy Bensebaini appeared to make the game safe but Tudor’s men had other ideas.

Vlahovic scored his second with 93 minutes on the clock before Englishman Lloyd Kelly leveled proceedings with a fine header. Unsurprisingly, the topsy-turvy affair was the standout encounter on MD1 of the 2025-26 campaign.

After his early-season exploits, Dusan Vlahovic may be earning himself a place in the Juventus Hall of Fame. The Serbian striker came off the bench to score twice and assist Lloyd Kelly for the last-gasp equalizer.

Vlahovic had been linked with a move away from Turin all summer but ultimately stayed at the Allianz. He didn’t score in the 4-3 Derby d’Italia win over Inter on Saturday but Igor Tudor joked he ‘already had enough of this type of match.’

“I’ve already had enough of this type of match,” he playfully announced after the last two results.

“We are conceding too many, at least we’re scoring a lot too, but we cannot carry on like this. It was so difficult in the second half to keep the energy levels up three days after an incredibly tough match, whereas Borussia Dortmund you could tell had a really easy game at the weekend.

“There was great heart, those who came off the bench made a big difference again, as they have been doing in all four matches now.

Juventus Champions League Fixtures

Now that the dust is beginning to settle after the last two blockbusters, Igor Tudor will be hoping for less stressful encounters in the UCL moving forward.

Juventus play Villarreal away on 1 October before facing Real Madrid at the Bernabeu three weeks later. On 4 November, Sporting Lisbon travel to Turin which will mark the halfway stage of the league phase.

A trip to Norway to play Bodo/Glimt on MD5 on November 25 is followed up by a home tie against Pafos in early December. In the new year, Juve will play Benfica (H) and Monaco (A).

On paper, Tudor will be quietly confident of picking up the necessary points to progress to the knockout stages. Something he won’t want is any more eight-goal thrillers along the way!
