Il Messaggero newspaper report that Sandro Tonali could face a 16 month disqualification following his admission that he bet on football matches. The 23-year-old met with the FIGC Public prosecutor in recent days and has admitted to placing bets on his former side AC Milan, but never on matches in which he played in.

While La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed yesterday that his ban could be up to a year, Il Messaggero suggest it could be a harsher punishment. The newspaper suggest that Tonali is now expected to work towards a plea bargain with the FIGC, however is punishment is expected to be sterner than that of Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli, who also admitted to gambling on illegal betting platforms. While Fagioli admitted to placing bets on football matches, none of those bets were on Juventus.

Il Messaggero suggest the punishment could be a total ban of 16 months from football with 16 months of a suspended sentence, which could entail working with gambling charities and appearing at relevant events.
