While the club has nearly sealed a deal with Lazio for Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro to strengthen their midfield options, Corriere dello Sport report how they’ve also initiated contact with Inter Milan regarding Marko Arnautovic and Joaquin Correa.
The long-standing friendship between Galliani and Inter’s Marotta has facilitated numerous transactions between the two clubs since the Berlusconi-Galliani era began in Brianza. While Inter has shown interest in former Milan playmaker Daniel Maldini, Monza has countered by inquiring about Inter’s surplus attacking duo, though the path to a deal remains complex.
Both Correa and Arnautovic (who is also on Torino’s radar) have contracts expiring on June 30, 2025, with an option for a one-year extension for the Austrian, currently not in the club’s plans. Monza is willing to sign at least one of them six months before their contracts expire. However, the players are not yet at zero impact on Inter’s balance sheet, necessitating a financial outlay from Monza to avoid a loss for Inter.
Further complicating potential negotiations is the high salary of €3.5 million earned by both attackers in Milan, which is unsustainable for Monza’s finances. Despite these hurdles, the interest from Monza adds an intriguing dimension to the futures of Correa and Arnautovic as the transfer window progresses.
