Inter coach Simone Inzaghi says his team ‘ever stopped believing’ and hailed their 4-3 win over Fiorentina as an ‘important victory’. The Nerazzurri played a thrilling game and despite being pegged back in the closing stages, they managed to snatch a late winner on the counter. Speaking to Sky Sport Italia after the game, Inzaghi was jubilant and praised his squad:
We were pegged back twice, but the team has always believed in the win, it’s a very important victory for our conviction, beyond the three points.
We were in control in the first part, then we lost some distance after it went to 2-1, but we believed in it and those who came off bench gave a great signal.
We were in control, at 2-0 and we played very well, but once they scored we got nervous and it’s not good, we had to keep doing what we were doing, reacting and believing in it until the end.
I’ve never been worried about Lautaro when he wasn’t scoring, for the team and in training he always does everything he has to. Correa is a player of the highest quality, penalised by injuries.
Tonight he did very well, in the service of the team, and it is normal that he needs consistency. He always played at Lazio, and here at Inter he is different, but he can only grow.”
