Inter boss Simone Inzaghi insists the title race is not over yet, despite beating Lecce 4-0 to go nine points clear with a game in hand. The Nerazzurri hammered Lecce with goals from Lautaro Martinez, Davide Frattesi and Stefan De Vrij, taking their winning streak to 10 matches in a row. Speaking to DAZN post-match, Inzaghi insisted that the title race is still alive, and looked ahead to their game in hand against Atalanta on Wednesday:
“There are still three months of the championship left, which are the most important: it’s right to be happy with what we’re doing, but we must look at Atalanta and not at the victories and clean sheets we’ve achieved. I am fortunate to have a staff with me that I have been working with for over ten years and a very solid club behind us that meets our needs.”
“Lautaro Martinez must continue like this; he is going through a great moment of form. For coaches, having players of this caliber is fortunate, just as Immobile was for me at Lazio.”
The Inter coach concluded: “We know that there are still many games left; we must continue to try to improve. Sanchez played an extraordinary game; it’s a shame he didn’t find the goal. Against Atalanta, it won’t be the decisive match point for the Scudetto; we must remain focused even when we sleep.”
