Inter coach Simone Inzaghi believes striker Lautaro Martinez has a great sense of belonging with the club. The Nerazzurri face Torino tomorrow afternoon with a number of players having traveled for international duty. Speaking ahead of the match, Inzaghi highlighted the difficulties he faced trying to get his team together after the recent break, while also singling out Martinez for praise following his explosive start to the campaign:
“Surely, after the break the preparation of matches is not easy, I had the players on Wednesday, the South Americans returned yesterday. We know that we will meet an excellent team with a coach who is in his third year with them: tomorrow we will need an excellent Inter side. The flanks will be important, but both teams have wingers and play with the outside players, but both sides also have quality in the middle of the pitch.”
“Lautaro? He is a player with a great sense of belonging, in recent years he has continued to grow and clearly he has given him even more responsibility. Moreover he has extraordinary teammates who always try to put him in the best conditions. We know that there will be a series of games that are all important and difficult. The boys know that I will need all of them, we will have to have great concentration and a great desire to do.”
“We are scoring a lot with different players, but we know that we can improve on that too. We are trying to train as best we can. We also want more goals from our defenders who have the chance, from our midfielders, from our wing-backs and of course from our forwards. We are working a lot on defensive organisation, we know we are doing well, but we still have to improve. In the last game we conceded two clearly avoidable goals: we have to improve every day and continue in this way, with the whole team participating in the non-possession phase”.
