Bologna manager Vincenzo Italiano addressed the media ahead of his team’s upcoming Serie A match against Napoli, emphasizing the need for a strong mentality and aggressive play.

Italiano began by acknowledging the challenge posed by Napoli: “Napoli has started with a new project and a new coach, and we must face them with the right attention and humility. They have great quality, but we are ready to play our game.”

The manager then touched on the unfortunate injury to Niccolò Cambiaghi, expressing his disappointment: “It’s not what we wanted, but he will come back stronger than before. He’s a special boy, I’m very sorry, and we’re losing a key player.”

Regarding new signing Tommaso Pobega, Italiano was optimistic: “He’s a boy I know, fantastic in his application and availability. He will help us; we needed a left-footed player in midfield, and he comes here with two years of experience at Milan, so he will have grown and matured. He’s 100% healed and knows how to manage the problem he had. He’s done the pre-season, completed all the training sessions, and is in good condition.”

Italiano also commented on the team’s transfer activities, confirming that they are still in the market for a defender: “We’re looking for a defender. The market is hot with the additions of Dominguez, expected Monday for medical tests, Iling Junior on a dry loan from Aston Villa, and Tommaso Pobega, who has already earned a call-up for tomorrow’s match in Naples.”

The Bologna coach emphasized the importance of squad depth, especially with the team’s involvement in multiple competitions this season. He expressed satisfaction with the recent reinforcements but noted that the search for a central defender remains ongoing.
