Ivan Juric to Atalanta rumours have been bubbling under the surface as other candidates were deemed more suitable, but the former Southampton and Roma manager is on the verge of reaching an agreement.
For the first time in nine years, Atalanta have had to face up to the daunting prospect of hiring a new manager, following the most successful period on the club’s history.
Now-Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini has cultivated such a specific set of principles over the better part of a decade that, whoever steps in, must manage La Dea‘s idiosyncrasies.
Ivan Juric Receives Two-Year Proposal to Manage Atalanta
There have been plenty of next Atalanta manager candidates touted for the role, including the likes of Thiago Motta and Raffaele Palladino.
The club’s propensity for penny-pinching has likely played a hand in their managerial search, but the lure of managing a team in the Champions League is no doubt an attractive prospect.
It has now emerged that their search is reaching its end, with Ivan Juric on the verge of agreeing a two-year deal.
Atalanta will pay the Croatian $2.2 million per-season, plus another $570,000 in performance-related bonuses, should his appointment proves successful.
Juric shares a similar philosophy to his soon-to-be predecessor, having been managed by Gasperini at both Crotone and Genoa, before acting as his assistant manager at Inter Milan and Palermo.
According to new betting sites, Atalanta are sixth-favourites to end their search for a Scudetto next season.
Why Did Ivan Juric Leave Southampton?
Ivan Juric’s appointment comes as somewhat of a surprise given his questionable record in recent managerial stints.
Not least a disastrous campaign at Southampton last season, where the Saints set a new record for the earliest Premier League relegation in history.
Juric, who was only in charge for 14 games before parting ways at the end of the season, is also the worst manager in Premier League history to have managed at least 10 games, having collected just four points from a possible 42.
Luckily for Juric, he managed to surpass Derby County’s record-low points haul of 11, albeit by a single point.

Ivan Juric Sacked By Roma After Just 12 Matches
Ivan Juric also endured an acrimonious end to a short-lived tenure at Roma, where he oversaw just 12 matches in charge.
Juric left his post in November 2024 after a 3-2 defeat at home to Bologna, leaving them 12th in Serie A — four points above the relegation zone — and 20th in the initial phase of the Europa League.
Ivan Juric Managerial Record
Despite his worrying record as a manager as of late, he is credited for notable successes elsewhere in Italy, including back-to-back top-half finishes with then-newly promoted Hellas Verona, as well as three commendable seasons at Torino.
