USMNT Star Johnny Cardoso Linked With Summer Switch To Serie A Giants

Start

The latest Johnny Cardoso transfer news has revealed that Juventus have joined the race for the USMNT star.

Johnny currently represents Real Betis in Spain’s LaLiga and played every minute across the two legs of the Conference League semi-final victory against Fiorentina.

The central midfielder has earned favorable reviews across 2024-25 for his dynamic and energetic performances. To date, he has featured in 43 games across all competitions scoring four times and providing one assist.

For the US, Johnny has 18 caps to his name. The 23-year-old was part of the team that won the CONCACAF Nations League in 2023 and 2024.

The New Jersey-born star has only been at Betis for two seasons but it appears he is ready to test himself in a different league and a number of potential suitors have already emerged.

Johnny Cardoso Transfer News

According to Tuttosport, Johnny Cardoso is being tracked by Juventus. Serie A’s most successful club have endured a fairly underwhelming 2024-25 campaign and view Johnny as an ideal candidate to boost their midfield.

Interestingly, Johnny would be the third USMNT star on the Old Lady‘s roster. Weston McKennie and Timothy Weah already ply their trade at the Allianz Stadium.

The main hurdle that stands in Juve’s way comes in the shape of English Premier League side Tottenham. Spurs acquired a non-mandatory €25million purchase option for Johnny this summer.

That was part of the deal that saw Giovani Lo Celso leave the Lilywhites for Betis last season. However, it still remains to be seen whether Ange Postecoglou’s side will exercise the option to sign Johnny.

As it stands, the Bianconeri are on course to finish in the top four this season. Therefore securing Champions League soccer in 2025-26.

Spurs have endured a hugely disappointing campaign and currently find themselves languishing in 17th position in the Premier League rankings.

The north Londoners do have a trump card they can play. Victory over Man United in the Europa League final will also seem them secure UCL soccer next season.
