Juventus and Chelsea have reportedly engaged in discussions regarding a potential swap deal involving Federico Chiesa and Raheem Sterling. As the transfer window enters its final two weeks, both clubs are looking to resolve situations with players who no longer fit into their managers’ plans.
Calciomercato report how Chiesa, currently training separately from the Juventus first team, has been the subject of transfer speculation throughout the summer. The Italian winger has only one year remaining on his contract and earns approximately €5 million per season.
On the other hand, Sterling’s situation at Chelsea is different. The English forward has a long-term contract until June 2027 and commands a significantly higher salary of around €10 million per year.
These disparities in contract length and wages present significant obstacles to a straightforward swap deal. As a result, both clubs have temporarily shelved discussions on this particular exchange.
For Chiesa, other potential destinations remain on the table. Roma, Milan, and Inter have all shown interest, although no official offers have been made. These clubs have only engaged in exploratory talks, primarily through Chiesa’s agent.
Meanwhile, if Sterling were to leave Chelsea for another club, it’s possible that the London side could still pursue Chiesa independently. For now, the Italian winger remains outside the Juventus first-team setup as his future hangs in the balance.
