Juventus have officially named Maurizio Scanavino as their new General Manager following the mass resignation of the clubs board of directors. An ongoing investigation into alleged tax fraud and false accounting led to an extraordinary board meeting yesterday afternoon where the decision was taken.
The Bianconeri released a press statement confirming the news and also the appointment of Scanavino, who is considered a close associate of Exor President John Elkann. The 49-year-old is a graduate of Telecommunication Engineering from the Polytechnic of Turin and is the current general director of Gedi Group, which controls Italian papers La Repubblica and La Stampa.
Scanavino joined the Fiat group in 2004 as Brand Promotion Director before moving on to La Stampa, managing their product and digital portfolio development.
In 2010, he became the general director of the advertising agency Publikompass and moved on to become CEO of the Italian paper Il Secolo XIX in 2013.
