Juventus appear to be on the verge of completing their first acquisition of the January transfer window. The Turin giants are reportedly in advanced negotiations to sign Alberto Costa, a Portuguese right-back currently playing for Vitória Guimarães.

Calciomercato report that the Bianconeri have made a decisive move in their pursuit of Costa, accelerating their efforts to outpace other interested clubs. While players like David Hancko, Antonio Silva, and Ronald Araujo remain on Juventus’ radar, it seems Costa has emerged as the priority target for the immediate future.

Juventus’ sporting director, Cristiano Giuntoli, is said to have made a crucial contact today, potentially tipping the scales in favour of the Italian club. Costa, who has been alerted to Juventus’ interest in recent days, is reportedly convinced by the prospect of joining the Serie A powerhouse, despite having multiple offers on the table.

The deal for Costa is expected to be completed for a fee slightly over €10 million, representing a permanent transfer. Juventus is aiming to secure the player on a contract until 2029, with salary terms that align with the club’s wage structure.

This potential signing is seen as fulfilling one of manager Thiago Motta’s wishes, providing additional depth and options in defence. While Juventus continues to monitor the situation for central defenders, Costa’s arrival would immediately bolster the right-back position.

Roma had also expressed interest in the Portuguese fullback, but Juventus’ aggressive approach seems to have created a significant advantage in the race for his signature.

If the deal goes through as expected, it could mark the beginning of a more active transfer period for Juventus, potentially paving the way for further reinforcements as they aim to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season.
