Empoli, fresh off their first three points of the season with a victory against Roma at the Olimpico, are working to strengthen their squad under coach Roberto D’Aversa. The Tuscan club is pushing to secure an experienced reinforcement in the form of Mattia De Sciglio, a full-back who has found himself on the fringes of Thiago Motta’s project at Juventus.
According to reports from Calciomercato, Empoli has asked Juventus to contribute to the payment of De Sciglio’s final year of contract, which expires in 2025. The request is for Juventus to cover around 40-50% of the player’s salary. Both parties are currently working to find a mutually beneficial solution.
De Sciglio has been with Juventus since 2017, with a brief loan spell at Lyon in the 2020-21 season. During his time with the Bianconeri, he has made 117 appearances and scored 2 goals. His trophy cabinet includes three Serie A titles, two Coppa Italia victories, and one Supercoppa Italiana with Juventus, as well as two Supercoppa Italiana wins from his time at AC Milan.
As negotiations continue, it appears that De Sciglio’s six-year stint at Juventus may be coming to an end, with Empoli eager to add his experience to their squad for the current season.
