Juventus have made an official approach for Liverpool forward Federico Chiesa, according to reports.

As reported by FootItalia, Chiesa is wanted by the Turin giants and Roma, and a Serie A return looks inevitable.

The 28-year-old, who moved to Merseyside in a £12.5million deal in August 2024, has failed to nail down a guaranteed starting spot at Anfield. As a result, he is likely to be open to moving on this month.

Arne Slot has used the wideman sparingly, despite Mohamed Salah’s explosive outburst and participation at the Africa Cup of Nations, resulting in him playing just 469 minutes in total this season.

Juventus have been closely monitoring his situation regardless, and, per Fabrizio Romano, they have formally made contact to express their interest in bringing back their former player.

Chiesa has made no secret of his desire to return to the national fold with the Azzurri, and with increased minutes, he could still play a role in steering Gennaro Gattuso’s side to the World Cup through the play-offs.

The ace, of course, has more than 50 caps and was integral in the Euro 2020 success, earning a spot in UEFA’s team of the tournament. However, a transfer to his homeland may have already hit the buffers.

The player has been told that a departure will not be greenlit this month, according to Sport Mediaset, with the club depleted by injuries and the Africa Cup of Nations.

Their stance is that he remains part of their immediate plans, despite his long-term future remaining uncertain.

That means he is more likely to secure a belated escape route in the summer, rather than the coming weeks.
