Juventus Legend Reveals Major Insight Into Igor Tudor Culture and Claims Time Will Tell If Damien Comolli Arrival Is Good or Bad

Start

Juventus legend Giorgio Chiellini has provided an insight into the culture under Igor Tudor and gave his opinion on new general manager, Damien Comolli.

What Is Giorgio Chiellini’s Role At Juventus?

The Italian soccer legend is regarded as one of the best defenders of all-time and enjoyed a 17-year career with Juventus between 2005 to 2017, making 561 appearances for the Old Lady.

During his time with in Turin, the defensive stalwart won nine Serie A titles, five Coppa Italias, five Supercoppa Italiana trophies and a Serie B title.

Alongside a stellar club career, Chiellini also became a household name in the Azzurri national team, accumulating 117 caps for Italy and winning the European Championship in 2021.

After retiring from the sport in January 2024, the Italian took some time away from the sport before returning to Juventus in June 2025 as the director of football strategy.

His role includes a variety of tasks but the 40-year-old will primarily focus on the youth development within the club and helping academy players break into the first team.

Juve have gone through a host of changes on a management/senior level, appointing Igor Tudor as the permanent first team manager and Damien Comolli as sporting director.

The Croatian took over from Thiago Motta towards the end of the 2024/25 season and was appointed on a permanent basis in June of this year, as Tudor looks to implement his full strategy and lineup next season.

Damien Comolli was also appointed in June, with the hopes of steadying a ship that has faced multiple difficulties in recent years and Chiellini has given his thoughts on both men ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

What Did Chiellini Say About Igor Tudor & Damien Comolli At Juventus?

As previously mentioned, Juve have gone through a host of changes off the field, while also adding some new names to their roster under Igor Tudor.

So far, the Old Lady have signed Nico Gonzalez, Lloyd Kelly, Pierre Kalulu, Michele Di Gregorio, Jonathan David, Francisco Conceicao and Joao Mario.

Despite these strong additions to Juventus’ roster, multiple offshore betting sites have still priced the Old Lady as outsiders to win the Serie A title behind Napoli and Inter Milan.

Ranking outside those two sides is a sign of Juve’s current state, as the Italian side have not won a league titles in five-years and Chiellini has revealed how Tudor can help the club return to the throne – while also commenting on Comolli’s impact.

Chiellini said: “The idea is to provide solidity, allowing this group to grow and drive a new successful era. Igor Tudor’s fourth-place finish and strong World Cup performance speak for him: Igor has brought a culture of hard work. Working with Damien Comolli is going well.

“He’s very data-conscious because he believes in numbers, but that doesn’t mean he’s just a data man with no human presence. He’s still unknown to many of us, including myself.

“I met him in March at a UEFA meeting. We were sitting next to each other at the table and chatted for a long time, without knowing we’d end up working together. We laughed a lot when he arrived in Turin.

“He’s a great person to work with. We’re building a structure that will be completed in the fall: work is work, time will tell if it’s good or bad, but there’s a real desire to sacrifice ourselves to create that winning cycle.”
