Juventus could bank a sizeable bonus from Brazil over the coming months if Kaio Jorge’s scoring form leads to a big-money move.
Cruzeiro hold firm as bids and interest circulate in former Juventus gem Kaio Jorge
The striker, who Juventus sold to Cruzeiro in June 2024, has revived his career and is now attracting fresh interest.
The 23-year-old has registered 21 goals and eight assists in 33 league matches, sparking transfer interest from rivals.
Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte have reported that Flamengo are interested in signing Kaio.
Flamengo are apparently willing to offer around €30m, matching an amount Zenit were said to propose last January.
In response, Cruzeiro have reportedly fixed a €50m asking price, with Juventus holding a 30% sell-on clause.
That would leave the Bianconeri in line for around €15m if Cruzeiro receive their full valuation.
Cruzeiro, however, are described as financially stable and under no pressure to sell their leading striker.
They have also reportedly reassured head coach Tite that Kaio would not be allowed to leave mid-season.
Kaio is under contract until 2029, strengthening Cruzeiro’s hand in any negotiations.
Any January move would therefore require a significant fee, or a bidding war, to bring Cruzeiro to the table.
Impressive foresight from Juve despite Kaio struggles in Turin
There were high hopes for Kaio when he joined Juventus from Santos in 2021.
However, his time in Turin didn’t go to plan, with just 11 appearances and 125 minutes of competitive football under his belt.
Juve ended up selling him to Cruzeiro for around €7.2m, earning a small profit after signing him for €7m.
In addition, Juve showed impressive foresight in including a 30% sell-on clause in the deal.
Kaio has found rhythm, confidence and consistency in his native Brazil, turning into one of Cruzeiro’s most decisive players.
If Cruzeiro were paid €50m, Juventus would receive €15m, money that could be reinvested or booked as profit.
Even a sale below that figure would still deliver a meaningful return, should the clause apply to the overall fee.
With Dusan Vlahovic being linked with a move away from Juve, the Bianconeri could reinvest the Kaio money into strengthening their attacking ranks.
Barcelona are reportedly eyeing Vlahovic, whose contract at Juve expires this coming summer.
