Reports from the Spanish media claim that Juventus have told Real Madrid and Barcelona that they have left the Super League project. Relevo broke the news earlier today, writing that the Bianconeri have sent a statement to both clubs, informing them of their decision to withdraw from the ill-fated competition.

The decision follows the announcement that Juventus have agreed a plea deal with the FIGC, accepting a hefty fine and 10-point deduction for the alleged ‘Plusvalenza’ and ‘salary maneuverer’ investigations.

There’s a suggestion that the move might be an effort from Juventus to try and mend their damaged relationship with UEFA, in particular president Aleksander Čeferin, who has been extremely critical of the club.

Spanish newspaper AS claim that Juve were forced to pull out of the proposed competition after they were threatened with a five-year ban by UEFA if they continued to support the Super League project.

The Bianconeri are already in a fragile position, having failed to qualify for the Champions League, and potentially facing a ban from European competitions for the 2023-24 season.
