Juventus are reportedly monitoring the situation of Chelsea defender, Axel Disasi, as the Frenchman looks unlikely to feature under Enzo Maresca.
Do Chelsea Want To Sell Axel Disasi?
In 2023, Axel Disasi completed a $52 million move from Monaco to Chelsea and was part of the big overhaul of players in that summer transfer window.
During his time at Stamford Bridge, the French defender has gone on to make 61 appearances and has never really cemented his place in the heart of Chelsea’s back-line.
This was made clear to see in the 2024/25 campaign, as Enzo Maresca showed no intention of playing the former Monaco player and decided to loan Disasi out to Aston Villa in the January window.
Removing Disasi from his side appeared to work for the Chelsea manager, qualifying for the Champions League and winning the Europa Conference league after being one of the favorites to be sacked at the start of the 2024/25 season on the best betting apps.
The 27-year-old put in an average performance at Villa Park overall, making 10 appearances for Unai Emery’s side and playing in three out of the four Champions League knockout matches.
Aston Villa decided to not make Disasi’s deal permanent however, meaning he will return back to west London and has a huge decision to make ahead of next season.
Earning a spot back in the Chelsea defense could prove a difficult task, with the likes of Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana and Trevoh Chalobah all being ranked high by Enzo Maresca,
At this current moment in time, Disasi has four-years remaining on his deal with Chelsea as the club signed the Frenchman on a six-year deal after his impressive run with Monaco.
Some reports suggest that Chelsea are looking into the possibility of terminating the defender’s deal and this has alerted several clubs around Europe – including Juventus.
Are Juventus Interested In Axel Disasi?
As previously mentioned, Disasi still has four-years left on his current contract with Chelsea and attempting to land his signature could prove to be an expensive task.
However, Juventus have sent an inquiry over to Chelsea about a possible deal, which could come in the shape of a loan move after Disasi’s spell with Aston Villa.
Given the fact Chelsea paid over $50m for Disasi back in 2023, it is unlikely that they would accept any fee below $35m – but the club will be aware that they will have to cut their losses.
The Old Lady could find their funds from somewhere within their squad, as Juventus are reportedly ready to sell Dusan Vlahovic for around $30m.
The Blues are not in any rush to sell their French defender, especially with four years left on his deal and the idea of terminating Disasi’s contract may be a risk financially.
Juventus will be keeping tabs on the situation however, as they look to strengthen their back-line and improve on a season that saw them finish fourth in Serie A.
