Juventus UEFA List: New Additions and Exclusions for Champions League

Juventus are preparing to submit their updated UEFA list for the Champions League following the January transfer window. The club has until midnight on February 6th to finalize their roster for the upcoming European matches, including the playoff round against PSV Eindhoven next week.

The winter transfer window saw Juventus bring in four new players: striker Randal Kolo Muani on loan from PSG, and defenders Alberto Costa, Lloyd Kelly, and Renato Veiga. However, UEFA regulations only allow for three changes to the initial list submitted in September, creating a selection dilemma for manager Thiago Motta.

Calciomercato report that several players from the original list are no longer with the club, including former captain Danilo, Nicolò Fagioli, and Arthur, who will automatically be removed. The club must also consider the status of injured players like Milik, Bremer, Kalulu, and Cabal, with only Kalulu likely to return before the season’s end.

Given the defensive challenges Juventus has faced, it’s expected that at least two of the new defensive signings – Veiga, Kelly, and Costa – will be added to the UEFA list. Kolo Muani, who has already made an impact with three goals since joining, is almost certain to be included as an alternative to Dusan Vlahovic.

The most likely scenario sees Costa, the young full-back from Vitoria Guimaraes, as the odd man out. Kelly’s readiness for international competition and Veiga’s debut appearance give them an edge in selection. Kolo Muani’s impressive start and the need for attacking options make him a priority inclusion.

Motta will have to balance immediate needs with long-term planning, potentially utilizing the ‘List B’ to include additional youth players from Juventus’ academy. The final decisions will reflect the club’s strategy for both domestic and European competitions as they aim to progress in the Champions League.
