Kevin De Bruyne Offered Significant Pay Cut To Join Napoli This Summer

Start

As seismic as Kevin De Bruyne’s salary is, the midfield maestro would need to take a drastic pay cut to join Napoli.

De Bruyne will leave Manchester City this summer upon the expiration of his contract on June 30. The Belgian star has been with the Cityzens since 2015.

During his time at the English soccer giants, De Bruyne lifted 14 major trophies. Six of those were Premier League titles and he also won the Champions League in 2023.

Naturally, interest in De Bruyne has been high. It was widely believed the 33-year-old would move to either the US or Saudi Arabia.

However, De Bruyne has been in talks with the Azzurri for the last few weeks. Antonio Conte’s side are now the favorites for his signature.

Kevin De Bruyne Salary

According to Capology, the Kevin De Bruyne salary currently stands at €474,388 per week ($530,966). Annually, the global soccer star pockets €24,668,186 ($27,610,251). The figures do not include any bonuses.

As it stands, Napoli would be willing to offer De Bruyne a two-year deal worth around €6million a season ($6.7million). That is around three quarters less than what he currently earns at Manchester City.

The Azzurri would also be willing to offer KDB a third year on his deal to stay in Naples until he is at least 36. He would also be given hefty bonuses if he could help lead Antonio Conte’s side to silverware.

Meanwhile, De Bruyne’s wife has reportedly been seen house-hunting in Naples ahead of his predicted switch to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Interestingly, the couple already have ties to the area. They married in June 2017 in the small peninsula town of Sorrento which faces the Bay of Naples.

Competition in De Bruyne is still plentiful but it does appear that Napoli lead the race to sign him. The Belgian baller could potentially link up with international team-mate Romelu Lukaku next season as well.

As it stands, Antonio Conte’s side needs to win their last two games to secure the 2024-25 Serie A title. Becoming the champions of Italy for a second time in three seasons will certainly help persuade De Bruyne his future lies in Naples.
