Reports from Italy suggest that there is still a huge gap between Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s demands and what Napoli are offering for his contract renewal. The Georgian winger took Serie A by storm last season, prompting links with the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid.
The 22-year-old has struggled for form since the tail end of last season, having failed to score a goal since March, despite having ending his debut Serie A campaign with 12 goals.
Il Corriere dello Sport report that about there is still an ‘enormous distance’ in terms of figures between Napoli and Kvaratskhelia: The Georgian players agent arrived in Italy to discuss the renewal of Kvaratskhelia’s contract and above all the adjustment of his salary from €1.4 million to season until 2027, but the talks with De Laurentiis did not take off.
The newspaper claim there is still ‘too much distance between supply and demand’: €5 million plus €1 million in bonuses is the request; the club’s counter-proposal is an increased salary to €3-3.5 million.
The player and his agent have since left for Georgia without having reached an agreement.
