Inter Milan Consider Ambitious Bid For Manchester United Star As Youngster Drops Down Pecking Order Under Ruben Amorim

Inter Milan are reportedly preparing an ambitious move for Kobbie Mainoo after the Manchester United star continues to drop down the pecking order under Ruben Amorim.

Will Kobbie Mainoo Leave Manchester United?

The English international was tipped to become the leading star in Manchester United’s midfield after making his Premier League debut in February 2023 at 17-years-old.

Mainoo has gone on to make 72 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring the winning goal in United’s FA Cup final victory against Manchester City in May 2025.

Putting in a string of impressive performances under Erik ten Hag, Mainoo went on to earn a place in England’s Euro 2024 squad and was a key figure in the nation’s run to the final.

However, his future at Old Trafford has started to come into question since Ruben Amorim took the reins in Manchester and Mainoo is yet to appear in United’s two Premier League games so far.

Multiple players have been linked with a move way from Old Trafford this summer, with Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho all pushing for a move away – while Rasmus Hojlund has been added to Napoli’s striker shortlist.

Now, Mainoo is being linked with a similar path to the names above and United fans have vented their frustration at losing another academy graduate this summer after Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford left the club following tricky spells in Manchester.

The 20-year-old has reportedly attracted interest from a host of clubs around Europe and is now being monitored by Inter Milan as Cristian Chivu looks to make a mark in his debut season.

Are Inter Milan Going To Sign Kobbie Mainoo?

Cristian Chivu took the reins at the Nerazzurri after Simone Inzaghi decided to leave Milan and begin a new venture in Saudi Arabia with Al Hilal.

Inter suffered a disappointing year in Inzaghi’s final season, finishing second in Serie A by one-point and suffering a crushing defeat to PSG in the Champions League final.

The Romanian got off to a flying start in his first Serie A match in charge, beating Torino 5-0 and Marcus Thuram saw his chances of winning the Serie A golden boot sky-rocket after bagging a brace.

Despite this impressive victory, Chivu is reportedly looking to make some extra additions to his roster before the deadline on August 31st and Mainoo is near the top of Inter’s shortlist.

There have been no talks between Inter and Manchester United at this current moment in time, however, the Red Devils have also failed to extend Mainoo’s deal as the Englishman looks for reassurances over his future.

Currently, the 20-year-old’s deal is set to expire in June 2027 and United have set a reported asking price of $85 million – with the club looking to keep a hold of their star asset.
