Inter striker Lautaro Martinez believes the Nerazzurri deserved to qualify from the Champions League group stages after their 1-0 win over RB Salzburg. The Italian side are amongst the first to guarantee progression to the last 16, with the Argentine scoring the only goal of the game from the penalty spot. Speaking post-match, Lautaro explained why he believes Inter ‘deserved’ to make through the round:
“I’m really happy, because we were in a difficult group, and we got the job done against a team who made life difficult for us, We always have to expect matches like this.
“They pressed us high up the pitch from the first minute, but in the end, we deserved the win.
“The penalty? You can train for it a lot. But then there’s also a lot of luck involved. After training, we practice taking them. Myself, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco, anyone who wants to try taking them.”
