Lecce president Damiani: “Dorgu is attracting Interest from Italy and abroad”

Saverio Sticchi Damiani, president of Lecce, shared his thoughts on the club’s current situation and transfer market plans ahead of their match against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico. Speaking to Sky Sport and DAZN, Sticchi Damiani addressed several key topics.

Regarding the transfer market, Sticchi Damiani stated, “Rebic performed well in the last game, and we’re counting on him. The squad is complete, but given our important objective of avoiding relegation, we won’t hold back if necessary. There are many players we haven’t seen yet who might surprise us.”

When asked about young talent Dorgu, the president expressed pride while emphasizing the club’s priorities: “It’s pleasing to note the attention from both Italy and abroad. However, we have an extremely important objective, and our key players won’t be moving. We aim to focus heavily on our youth sector and take risks with our young players. We’re committed to Dorgu until the end of the season. I’m glad he’s attracting attention from many, but the goal of survival is more important than anything else.”

Sticchi Damiani also commented on manager Giampaolo: “He’s a coach who uses all available time to work and only needs time. We try to help him as much as possible. I appreciate his work ethic and his enthusiasm. We hope Lecce is the right place for his characteristics.”

Reflecting on the recent draw with Juventus, he added, “I believe it was a good second half, where we saw the first concepts: a well-organized Lecce, even in the fierce reaction. We hope to continue on that path.”
