The latest Lionel Messi transfer news has indicated that Como are potentially plotting a sensational move for the Argentine superstar.
Cesc Fabregas’ side has been the most active Serie A side so far in the summer transfer market. As it stands, the Biancoblù have drafted in nine new recruits.
The Spanish World Cup winner did look like he may depart the Sinigaglia earlier in June owing to strong interest from Inter. However, Cesc committed his future to the club to oversee the exciting new project that lays ahead.
And that new project may hit a new level of excitement that many didn’t deem possible. Especially if the Como boss could convince a certain 2022 World Cup winner to become his 10th acquisition of the summer.
Lionel Messi Transfer News
Lionel Messi is currently contracted to MLS side Inter Miami until December 31, 2025. It’s still unclear whether he’ll continue his career in the States or opt to move back to Europe.
The Barcelona legend has proven to be a huge hit in an otherwise struggling Miami team under the guidance of head coach Javier Mascherano.
Como’s €100million+ spending spree clearly demonstrates the Serie A side is gunning for glory over the next few years. And if they can lure Messi to the Sinigaglia, their chances of success will increase dramatically.
Cesc Fabregas On Lionel Messi
The rumor mill started gaining traction about Lionel Messi’s potential switch to Como owing to his wife’s attendance at the recent friendly fixture vs Lille.
Antonela Roccuzzo was spotted alongside Cesc Fabregas’ family which naturally, raised a series of questions around Messi’s next move.
However, Cesc had a simple explanation for Antonela’s presence but did go on to add Messi as a possibility of joining his revolution.
“Messi at Como? Never say never. He was at my house on vacation, he was traveling to see some friends, and we are friends, our wives and our children too. But he’s in the United States now.”
Who Has Como Signed This Summer?
Como has signed nine players already this summer as the Biancoblù tries to mount a European push this season. Something of which the best offshore sportsbooks believe can happen in 2026.
Their most expensive outlay was that of Jesus Rodriguez from Real Betis for €28m. Highly rated Croatian star Martin Baturina moved from Dinamo Zagreb for €25m with the most recent acquisition being Maximo Perrone from Manchester City. He cost €13m.
Naturally, Lionel Messi wouldn’t command a transfer fee if he let his contract run down and decided to move to the Serie A side on a free. However, his signing on fee and salary would be huge.
