Lorenzo Insigne, former Napoli captain and current Toronto FC player, recently shared his thoughts on Napoli’s current season and his enduring love for the club in an interview with Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

Insigne expressed his anticipation for Napoli’s upcoming match against Inter Milan, acknowledging the challenge posed by the opposition. “I expect a great game on Sunday. Inter has an important Champions League match against Arsenal today, but let’s not forget they’re a great team. Conte will know how to prepare them,” he stated. The former Napoli star also revealed his dream of seeing Napoli win the Scudetto again. “I can only hope that what we experienced two years ago can happen again,” he said, referring to Napoli’s triumphant 2022-23 season.

Insigne spoke about his life in Toronto, mentioning that the MLS season has concluded and he’s currently vacationing in Naples. He noted the difference in sports culture between Canada and Italy, saying, “In Canada, sports aren’t experienced with the same pressure. Football isn’t as popular; the public is more passionate about basketball and hockey.” Despite his new life in Toronto, Insigne’s love for Naples remains strong. “I want to thank the Neapolitan fans for their messages. I have an incredible love for this city,” he declared. “Naples is my home. I always spend my holidays here. You can’t live without Naples.”

Commenting on Napoli’s recent loss to Atalanta, Insigne saw it as an opportunity for growth. “It’s better that the defeat came now against Atalanta. This way, we can push harder on the accelerator, and we’ll recover starting from the match against Inter,” he explained. Insigne praised Antonio Conte’s coaching abilities, stating, “Conte knows how to work extremely well and knows how to bring out everything that players have inside.” When asked about the possibility of Conte coaching Napoli and calling him, Insigne’s response was emphatic: “You can’t say no to Napoli. If Conte were to call me, I’d already be at Castel Volturno.”
