Luciano Spalletti has been warned Antonio Conte could look to return to Juventus next summer.

Luciano Spalletti’s Uncertain Juventus Future

Spalletti signed a contract until the end of the season after Igor Tudor was sacked, but his future is uncertain.

The Old Lady attempted to lure Conte back to Turin for a second spell last summer, only for him to decide to stay with Napoli and look to defend their Scudetto crown.

Tudor was therefore given a permanent deal before being dismissed just two months into the campaign after an eight-match winless run.

Spalletti was a popular replacement after leading Napoli to the Serie A title in 2022-23 and managing Italy. Indeed, the 66-year-old led the Azzurri to Euro 2024, where they were knocked out by Switzerland in the last-16.

He was then axed following a World Cup qualifying defeat by Norway back in June.

However, the former Inter Milan boss has steadied the ship at Juventus, securing them back-to-back wins over Bologna and Roma. Supporters may therefore believe he should be rewarded with a long-term extension.

But Italian journalist Paolo Paganini believes that Conte could take charge next season instead.

“Well, some credit certainly goes to Luciano Spalletti, not only for the results, but also for restoring an identity and a clear playing style to Juventus,” Paganini posted on his X account.

“Then in June, we’ll see whether Antonio Conte’s desire to return to Turin will be fulfilled by the ownership, or not.”

How Antonio Conte Fared As Juventus Manager

During his first stint at Juventus, Conte led the club to the Scudetto in each of his three campaigns.

A former Italy international, the 57-year-old made over 500 appearances for the club, winning five league titles.

He returned in 2011 as head coach and presided over one of the most successful periods in Juve’s history.

The Italian media reported that Spalletti’s contract would be automatically extended if Juventus qualify for the Champions League. However, Damien Comolli explained that the club will make the final decision on a renewal.

“There is also a moral agreement and what we discussed with Luciano is that… we see this potentially as a long-term collaboration. It’s certainly something that we would want to have on the club side,” said Comolli.

“We felt it was the right approach. Then during the season we can sit down and decide the way forward.”

FootItalia reported that Conte’s Napoli future is uncertain, and a Turin comeback would certainly make sense. For now, though, Spalletti is in control of his own destiny, provided his side finishes in the top four.
