Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto is set to join Qatari side Al-Duhail next week, with just the final details pending. The Spanish midfielder had spoken previously about his desire to leave the Biancocelesti, going so far as to say:
“The Laziop roject? I don’t know, but I know that this is my last season here. I don’t want to take another euro from Lazio; I’ve already requested the termination of my contract. I believe the time has come for me to step aside.”
Transfer journalist Matteo Moretto now reports that the 31-year-old is poised to make the move to the Middle East after Lazio and the Qatari club reached an agreement for approximately €12 million.
In the next few days there will be an exchange of documents, and the player is expected to travel to Qatar between the end of next week and the beginning of the following week.
Luis Alberto spent eight seasons in the capital with Lazio, scoring 52 goals in 307 appearances for the club.
