Manchester United are the latest Premier League club to be linked with Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella this summer. The 26-year-old was reportedly the subject of a €50m bid from Newcastle United earlier this month, an offer that was turned down flat by the Nerazzurri.
La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Manchester United are now in for the Italian maestro, but it will be a difficult task to prize Barella away from Inter.
The versatile midfielder still has three years left on his contract with the Champions League finalists, meaning it would likely take a hefty offer for the Nerazzurri to even consider his sale, with Gazzetta suggesting a figure around the €80 mark.
The newspaper suggests that United are in need of a midfield profile like that of Barella, but with the club in the middle of a takeover at present, it could be a little while before they begin making significant moves on the transfer market.
Chelsea and Liverpool have also been linked with Barella this year, and with Inter in need of funds to inject in the transfer window, they may yet make one big-money sale to help fund their summer.
