Former Inter Milan goalkeeper, Andre Onana, is set for a Serie A return as Manchester United fans call for the Cameroonian’s exit following a nightmare display in the Red Devils’ Carabao Cup exit.

Will Manchester United Sell Andre Onana?

Being the number one for Manchester United is one of the toughest jobs in football and Andre Onana’s spell with the Red Devils continues to go from bad to worse.

His most recent display during the clubs’ Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby appears to be the final straw for supporters, with Onana being at fault for both goals and conceding 12 penalties to lose in the shootout.

The Cameroon international now looks set to leave the Red Devils, especially with Ruben Amorim preferring Altay Bayindir in goal for United’s two Premier League games so far.

Since joining Manchester United from Inter Milan in July 2023, the 29-year-old has made 102 appearances for the Red Devils and has failed to string a run of impressive performances.

Onana’s arrival came with huge excitement after reaching the Champions League final with Inter and United fans questioned David De Gea’s performances in his final season in Manchester.

The Spaniard is now enjoying life with Fiorentina and is set to be reunited with Victor Lindelof as the Swede edges closer to a move to Florence this summer.

However, Onana failed to live up to expectations in his opening season, making a number of costly errors in the Champions League specifically and he has failed to recover ever since.

Manchester United fans appear to have lost hope with Onana and the Red Devils are closing in on another shot-stopper this summer, as talks progress with Royal Antwerp over a deal for Senne Lammens.

The Belgian is being lined-up to take the number one spot at Old Trafford and his arrival would be the final nail in the coffin for Onana – which has alerted clubs across Europe.

Onana’s deal in Manchester is set to expire in June 2028 and according to reports, a host of Serie A sides are looking to bring the Cameroonian in before the deadline.

Could Andre Onana Return To Serie A?

Onana earned his move to Manchester United after an impressive spell with Inter Milan, winning the Supercoppa Italiana and Coppa Italia, while also reaching the Champions League final in 2023.

During Inter’s run to the UCL final, the 29-year-old put in some magnificent performances and ended the year in the competition’s team of the tournament.

This could prove critical in making a move back to Italy, as his time with Manchester United will not have impressed clubs around Europe – but Serie A sides will be hoping for the Inter Milan version.

According to reports, Inter, AC Milan and Atalanta are all monitoring Onana’s situation at Old Trafford, with Inter considering a move form Kobbie Mainoo after his recent struggles in Manchester.

Cristian Chivu kicked off the season with a 5-0 win over Torino, thanks to a goal from Alessandro Bastoni and braces from Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez.

Yann Sommer started the match in-between the sticks for Inter and the 36-year-old is expected to maintain his position after a strong 2024/25 campaign.

Despite the rumored interest from Italy, no contact has been made between the Serie A sides and Manchester United, but any bid would need to be around $35 million.
