Inter Milan’s CEO Giuseppe Marotta has tempered expectations ahead of the crucial match against Fiorentina, dismissing suggestions that it could be a decisive game in the Scudetto race. Speaking to Sky Sport before kickoff, Marotta stated, “A Scudetto match? I would say definitely not.”

The Inter executive emphasized the importance of the fixture while acknowledging the quality of both teams. “I believe the values of both teams will emerge. The importance of the points is fundamental. For us, it’s a test against a team that is second on merit. This weekend we are suffering from significant injuries,” Marotta explained.

Addressing transfer rumors linking Inter with players like Donnarumma and Verratti, Marotta remained noncommittal: “It’s now customary for big clubs to be associated with players who could be free agents at the end of the season. But in this case, we have a competitive squad and no particular anxiety. The activity of Ausilio and Baccin is always to probe situations and market hypotheses that are congenial, as we move, so do others.”

On the topic of the Scudetto race, Marotta recognized Inter’s status while praising their rivals: “I represent a big club, and when that’s the case, you’re certainly tipped as favorites. Plus, we’re the reigning champions. We are aware of our role as favorites, but there’s also Napoli who deserve their first place; that’s the beauty of football, many teams aim to win.”
