Milan youngster Matteo Gabbia is expected to end his loan spell with Villarreal early in order to return to the Rossoneri. Milan have been hit with a string of defensive injuries in recent weeks, leaving them with a makeshift backline in recent matches.
Reports from the Italian press suggest that in order to help deal with the crisis, Milan are looking to bring Gabbia back in order to help fill in at centre-back.

The Rossoneri are currently without defenders Malick Thiaw and Pierre Kalulu, while Tomasso Pobega, Yunus Musa and Noah Okafor are also recovering from injury.
