Atalanta defender Merih Demiral is set to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli in a reported €18 million deal. The Turkish centre-back was on the club’s transfer list this summer after reports suggested he had fallen out with La Dea coach Gian Piero Gasperini.
Fabrizio Romano now reports that Atalanta and Al-Ahli have reached an agreement for the player’s transfer, with the move very close to being completed.
According to the transfer specialist, the move will earn the Italian side close to €18 million and while two Premier League clubs were interested in Demiral, he has become the latest in a long list of players to choose the Saudi Pro League.
