Milan are closing in on a deal for Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek, according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano. The 27-year-old is reportedly on his way out of Stamford Bridge this summer as the club prepare a massive overhaul of their extensive squad, with many fringe players expected to make way.
Romano reports that the Rossoneri are ‘close’ to finding an agreement with Loftus-Cheek over what would be a ‘long term contract’ after direct contacts were started two weeks ago.
Milan and Chelsea are also in talks with one another to find an agreement over a transfer fee, given Loftus-Cheek will be out of contract next summer and is not expected to renew with the Blues.
The transfer specialist says that ‘all parties are hopeful and optimistic’ over a potential deal, with Milan looking to reinforce their midfield ahead of the new campaign.
