As it stands, the French international’s contract is set to expire at the end of the current season, making him available to acquire on a free transfer ahead of next year’s campaign. With Aouar keen on departing in order to take on a new challenge, Milan seem ready to immerse themselves in a pursuit for the 24 year-old central midfielder.
According to reports from French news outlet Footmercato, the Milanese club are plotting an approach to sign him on a pre-contract agreement in preparation for next season. The club believes that their resurgence in the Champions League, as well as their recent domestic success, will play a key role in persuading Aouar to choose the San Siro as his next destination.
Since signing his first professional contract with Lyon in 2016, the academy graduate has notched 30 goals in 160 appearances across all competitions over the past six years with the Ligue 1 giants.
