AC Milan Youngster Announces Shock Retirement Aged 20: ‘Lost The Desire’
The midfielder suffered a string of brutal injury setbacks.
A Milan Futuro youngster has announced their retirement from football at the age of 20.
Vincenzo Perrucci Releases Social Media Statement
Midfielder Vincenzo Perrucci made five appearances this season, totalling 123 minutes, after a string of injury setbacks. He decided to hang up his boots after losing his ‘desire’, with knee trouble affecting his availability.
Perrucci was ruled out again in October, and has now brought a premature end to his playing career. While he has not ruled out returning in the future, a statement confirmed he will be stepping away with immediate effect.
He shared a gallery of images from his time at Milan on Instagram, including several as a young boy.
In an emotional caption, Perrucci wrote: “Finding the words to describe this moment isn’t easy. I joined Milan when I was 5 years old. I was a small, carefree child with a dream in my heart.
“Making the decision to stop, for the time being, was difficult, but this decision was driven by numerous knee injuries that no longer allowed me to do what I loved.
“Even when I managed to complete a full week of training and matches, I would stop for weeks or even months.
“I had lost the desire and serenity to work because I was never able to feel physically well, which also significantly impacted my daily routine.
“I thank those who always supported me in moments of joy, but especially those who stood by me in the most difficult moments. I’ll always support the team that raised me from an early age and shaped me as a man.
“Forza Milan.”
In response, Milan, who want to sign striker Andrej Kostic for Futuro, wished Perrucci luck for the future.
“You were and always will be part of our family, and we will continue to root for you,” the club commented.

Milan Futuro Close In On New Signing
Meanwhile, Futuro are set to wrap up the signing of talented Dutch defender Juwensley Onstein.
According to MilanNews, the 18-year-old is expected to officially complete his switch to Italy on Thursday. That would allow him to make his debut for his new club against Casatese Merate on Sunday afternoon.
Onstein currently plays for Jong Genk, but the Rossoneri pounced to capitalise on uncertainty around his future. His contract had been set to run down next season, leaving the Belgian outfit vulnerable.
Ironically, Milan’s senior team are also in desperate need of defensive reinforcements. So far, however, Massimiliano Allegri has been unable to land his targets, including former stalwart Alessio Romagnoli.
John Stones is a target, and talks have taken place over the Manchester City defender.
