According to reports from Italy, Milan have informed head coach Stefano Pioli that he will be relieved of his duties following their final game of the season against Salernitana on Saturday.

Calciomercato journalist Daniele Longo reports that Pioli received the news this afternoon. The decision followed a visit to the club’s headquarters by agent Valerio Giuffrida earlier in the day.

The announcement comes as no surprise, as speculation about Pioli’s future has been rampant for weeks. The club has been linked with several potential replacements, with Paulo Fonseca emerging as the leading candidate to take over next season.

Saturday’s match at San Siro offers a chance for fans and players to bid a proper farewell to Pioli, who has led the team to significant achievements during his tenure. Under his guidance, Milan secured a second-place finish in Serie A this season.

Pioli, whose contract runs until June 2025, will need to negotiate the terms of his departure. If he does not secure another position this summer, Milan will be obligated to continue paying his salary.
