Milan are missing no fewer than eight first team players at present and it’s a mixed bag as to when they’ll return to action. The Rossoneri were already struggling with absentees heading into the weekends victory over Empoli, but the 3-1 win cost them yet more injury woes.

La Gazzetta dello Sport offered an update on the players expected return dates, and while there are some long-term concerns, others could recover in time for the match against Juventus this weekend.

Theo Hernandez and Junior Messias are both expected to miss up to a week, while Simon Kjaer could return in around a fortnight.

Mike Maignan picked up a calf injury while on duty for the French national side and should be back in the side by the end of the month, but Alexis Saelemaekers will be out for the rest of the year with a partial MCL tear.

Davide Calabria underwent a scan yesterday which showed a proximal myotendinous lesion of the hamstring of the right thigh, meaning he won’t be back until 2023.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a long-term injury absentee having undergone ACL surgery while Alessandro Florenzi is also out until next year with a severe injury to the biceps femoris of his left hamstring,
