The latest Milan transfer news has confirmed the Rossoneri are close to completing a deal for former Juventus defender Koni De Winter.

Max Allegri’s side has less than two weeks to go before the 2025-26 Serie A opener against newly-promoted Cremonese on August 23.

The legendary Italian boss will be aiming to have all of his desired transfer targets signed and ready to feature against Grigiorossi at the San Siro on MD1.

Milan Transfer News

Milan – who are +600 with offshore sportsbooks to win Serie A in 2025-26 – are closing in on their sixth signing of the summer.

Former Juventus star and current Genoa defender Koni De Winter will join the likes of Luka Modric, Ardon Jashari and Samuele Ricci at the San Siro.

Italian soccer journalist Fabrizio Romano has already confirmed that a verbal agreement has been struck. All that remains is De Winter’s medical to be completed and the highly-rated centre-back will put pen to paper on a long-term deal.

Meanwhile, the Rossoneri are also close to agreeing a loan deal for Man United forward Rasmus Hojlund. The Dane is keen to move back to Italy after the Red Devils signed Benjamin Sesko.

How Much Will Koni De Winter Cost?

According to reports, Koni De Winter will cost Milan an initial €20million. That is what Fabrizio Romano posted but there is likely to be around €5m in add-ons included as well.

The Belgian defender is contracted to Genoa until 2028 and has a TransferMarkt value of €22m. Therefore, the Rossoneri can be extremely happy with their business.

Especially as it’s believed the Grifone have a sell-on fee to pay Juventus. It’s understood that it could be up to a whopping 25%.

Once De Winter joins, head coach Max Allegri will turn his full attentions to Rasmus Hojlund. If successful in his pursuit of the Dane, it could be his last major summer signing before the window closes.

Who Is Koni De Winter Replacing At Milan?

Koni De Winter is expected to be a direct replacement for Malick Thiaw. The German defender is in England to complete his transfer to Newcastle United.

The 6ft 4in star is tying up the loose ends of his €40m move to the Magpies. Thiaw is expected to undergo his medical on Monday afternoon.

Thiaw has spent the last three seasons in Milan and has made 85 appearances across all competitions. He was also part of the Rossoneri roster who won the 2024-25 Supercoppa Italiana.

Financially, Max Allegri’s side will make a tidy profit by drafting in De Winter. The Belgian already has Serie A experience and is regarded as a stronger prospect than Thiaw.
