Milik: ‘I can play alongside another striker’

New Juventus signing Arek Milik doesn’t believe he’ll have a problem fitting in as he can play alongside another striker. The Polish international arrived in Turin on loan and gave his first press conference as a Juve player where he addressed concerns that he might only be used as a substiute, rather than playing alongside Dusan Vlahovic:

I trained twice, three times with the team, and there is not much time for practice now. I can play with another forward, I did it with Lewandowski with the national team, but the coach has the last word. Let’s see how we’ll play, I’ll do what I can during training sessions.

This is a special moment, it has always been my target to play for such a big club. It’s a great thing for me, I want to offer something special, score goals and be happy.

I was close to Juventus in the past, but things went differently. I was close two or three years ago, but as I always say, the present is what counts. I am happy with my choice.

I am focused on the next game with Spezia, I don’t know when we’ll face Napoli. What didn’t work? I had to leave, it didn’t happen so I was frozen out [of the team].

I feel good, I scored 30 goals in 50 games with Marseille, but this no longer counts. In modern football, what you do now is all that matters. People never look backwards, the next game is always the most important.”

Vlahovic and Lewa? It’s hard to compare them, Dusan is really young, Lewandowski is in a different moment of his career.

They are two strong strikers, their goals speak for themselves. Dusan can still improve so much, he is 22 and can become even better. He has a great future ahead. Lewa is 34, it’s hard to compare them.

I’ve known Tek for a long time and the atmosphere since I arrived has been really good. The structures are incredible, the stadium, training facilities, here you only need to play football. Everything is organised and there are many people working with the team.”
