Former Fiorentina midfielder Riccardo Montolivo doesn’t believe Nicolo Barella would be a starter at the best teams in Europe. Barella has been the lynchpin of the Nerazzurri midfield for many a season following his move from Cagliari in 2019. Speaking while on broadcast duties with DAZN, Montolivo and guests talked about players they viewed and overrated and underrated, turning their attention to Barella. Montolivo said of the Inter player:
“I don’t see him as a starter in the best teams in Europe, because of his characteristics, in the end he can be a leader in Italy, a point of reference in Inter, but as a starter in Barcelona I don’t see him at that level from a technical point of view. Sure, he is functional, but he cannot be the reference point that he is at Inter in other teams.”
