Monza are set to rival Juventus for the signature of Celtic right-back Josip Juranović. Alongside Juventus, a multitude of European giants have been linked with a transfer for the defender, including Roma, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and Chelsea.

According to CalcioMercato, newly-promoted side Monza will challenge these sides in the quest to sign the Croatia international. Manager Raffaele Palladino has been fielding centre-forward Patrick Ciurria as a makeshift right wing-back this season.

Juranović, 27, returned to Scotland in excellent form on the back of playing every minute of the World Cup for Croatia, who reached the semi-final of the competition.

Monza, who are owned by the former prime minister of Italy and former owner of Milan, Silvio Berlusconi, currently sit 15th in Serie A. The club made a staggering 23 signings during the most recent summer transfer window. Such a signing as Juranović, however, would be made in the hope of inspiring a mid-season push up the table.

Finivest S.p.A’s takeover has seen the club rapidly progress with Forbes 2021 rankings placing Berlusconi as the richest football club owner in Italy. Holding aspirations of his newest project playing in Europe, Berlusconi will rely on flexing financial muscle to outmanoeuvre Juventus and Roma in negotiating a deal for Juranović.

Juventus are prepared to see Juan Cuadrado’s contract expire and for the Colombian to depart Turin this summer, whilst José Mourinho is naturally keen for Roma to sell Rick Karsdorp. Both clubs are consequently in need of acquiring a new right-back addition.
