According to the latest Morten Hjulmand transfer news, Juventus are back in the race for the Sporting Lisbon star.

Hjulmand has starred for the Portuguese giants this term and is firmly on Luciano Spalletti’s radar. The new Juventus head coach has been a keen admirer of Hjulmand since his spell with Lecce.

A lot will hinge on whether the Bianconeri can claim a top-four finish this season. That would ensure Spalletti stays for 2026-27 and would help generate the funds necessary to bid for the Danish international.

Morten Hjulmand Transfer News

Although the latest Serie A transfer news suggests Juventus are looking to sign a new goalkeeper, the Italian giants are set to reignite their interest in Morten Hjulmand.

However, Sporting Lisbon will not entertain any bids this January. That is according to world renowned sports journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Therefore, the Bianconeri will likely put all their efforts into signing the Sporting captain in the summer. Head coach Luciano Spalletti is relatively convinced by his central midfield options but feels that Hjulmand can take the Old Lady to the next level.

How Much Would Morten Hjulmand Cost?

Owing to his rise and status as one of Europe’s best defensive midfielders, Morten Hjulmand won’t come cheap. He has a release clause of €80million.

As it stands, that is far beyond Juventus’ budget but sales would need to be made to raise the necessary funds. Sporting are unlikely to entertain bids for less than €70m but would rather his clause be met in full.

If Juve are unsuccessful in their pursuit of Hjulmand, Sandro Tonali and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic have been identified as alternative targets.

Once again, both players would cost vast sums so the Bianconeri really don’t have any other option than to sell some of their prized assets to generate the cash.

What Other Clubs Are Interested In Morten Hjulmand?

As expected, interest in Morten Hjulmand is plentiful. English Premier League giants Tottenham and Manchester United are monitoring the 26-year-old’s situation.

The latter perhaps holds the ace card as current head coach Ruben Amorim worked with Hjulmand at Sporting Lisbon. The Red Devils are also keen to bring an industrious midfielder into their roster.

Adam Wharton and Carlos Baleba have been heavily linked but would cost a lot more than Hjulmand. As for Spurs, they are leaning more towards a January deal which is extremely unlikely to come to fruition.

Across the continent, Hjulmand is also on Bayern Munich’s radar as well as PSG and Barcelona. From a Juventus perspective, the Bianconeri will need to convince the Dane his future lies back in Serie A.

That is something easier said than done but not beyond the realm of possibility. Especially if Luciano Spalletti clinches Champions League soccer.

Hjulmand played in the matchday 4 clash against the Old Lady so he already has a glimpse of what it’s like to play for such a prestigious club on the biggest stage.
