Napoli director Manna: ‘Danilo? Let’s see if there are the right conditions…’

Ahead of the Serie A clash between Napoli and Venezia, Napoli’s sporting director Giovanni Manna shared his thoughts on the game, the team’s objectives, and the challenges of the January transfer market. The match presented an opportunity for Napoli to close the gap on Atalanta, who had been held to a 1-1 draw by Lazio, while Venezia sought crucial points in their fight for survival.

Manna acknowledged the difficulty of facing Venezia, praising their style of play and emphasizing Napoli’s dedication to hard work. When asked about potential transfer targets, particularly Juventus defender Danilo, Manna was cautious about raising expectations during the January transfer window. He remarked: “January is truly a complicated market. It’s easier to disrupt balance than to improve it. Danilo is a Juventus player, and we are not in talks with Juventus. We’ll see if the right conditions arise to make it happen.”

Manna also reflected on Napoli’s overall approach to transfers this season, emphasizing strategic decisions to maintain and enhance the squad. He explained: “We started this season with a clear path. We consolidated what was already good and added some players to improve. At this moment, if you make changes and bring someone in, it must be an improvement. To do so, there need to be the right conditions, and if they arise, we will act.”
