Napoli Turn To Premier League Once Again As Antonio Conte Targets Out Of Favor Liverpool Star Darwin Nunez

Start

Napoli are set to turn to the Premier League once again after signing Kevin De Bruyne, as Antonio Conte targets Liverpool star, Darwin Nunez.

Will Liverpool Sell Darwin Nunez?

The Uruguayan has struggled to find a steady run of form in Merseyside after joining the Reds for $75 million in June 2022.

Since making the move to Anfield, Nunez has contributed to 66 goals in 143 appearances (40G + 26A) and has won the Premier League and Carabao Cup.

This goal return does not look too poor on paper, however, Nunez has received a fair amount of criticism for his spell at Liverpool and has missed a multitude of simple chances.

At this current moment in time the 24-year-old is quite far down the pecking order at Liverpool with Arne Slot preferring Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota in the striker role.

The Reds have also added Florian Wirtz to their roster for a club record fee of around $121m, meaning Nunez’s chance to feature in the attacking lineup has lowered.

His current deal with Liverpool is set to expire in June 2028 and the Reds reportedly want around $75m for the Uruguayan if he were to leave this summer.

The former Benfica star has been linked with a move elsewhere this summer and the best betting apps have priced Saudi Arabia as the most likely destination.

Another option that has been tied with the Uruguayan’s name is a move to Italy and joining Serie A champions, Napoli, as Antonio Conte looks to bolster his side.

Are Napoli Interested In Darwin Nunez?

The Serie A champions have already been very active this summer, signing Manchester City legend, Kevin De Bruyne, as a free agent and are on the hunt for more star names.

The Belgian star has agreed a deal that included an eight-figure signing on bonus as he continues his career away from Manchester and the Premier League.

Now, reports have suggested that Antonio Conte is a big fan of Darwin Nunez and will look into the possibility of signing the striker this summer – but Liverpool’s valuation could prove problematic.

Napoli are unlikely to pay the $75m fee and will struggle to match the wages that clubs from Saudi Arabia will be able to offer – but Nunez may be keen on staying in Europe.

Atletico Madrid have made contact with Liverpool over a move for a Uruguayan, however, the Serie A champions are also interested in other Premier League stars, diverting their attention to Rasmus Hojlund and Federico Chiesa.
